The kids have an Elmo movie that sings this:

The bear went over the mountain

The bear went over the mountain

The bear went over the mountain

To see what he could see…

He saw another mountain

He saw another mountain

He saw another mountain

And what do you think he did…

The bear went over the mountain…

You get the idea. Well, a group of us climbed the mountain here in Soddo,  Mount Damota. It is a 3000 foot increase in elevation from where the hospital is at 6,800 feet above sea level.  The mountain has 7 peaks and you can’t even see the actual top from where we live.  So we felt a little like this poor bear, you think you are almost there and then there is another mountain.  But it was tons of fun and great exercise.  I have been twice and Paul still hasn’t gotten to go.  He was planning on going with us, but at 5am that day he got called into a case that started about when we did to climb the mountain.

The views are beautiful, you can see the whole city and beyond. Once we reached the top we had a picnic with the kids that followed us up the mountain.

Here is everyone who climbed up that day. Lots of doctors, visitors, children we collected a long the way...all friends. The guy in the blue shirt laying across the middle is Hasabu, he is an OR nurse and was our guide for the day.
